In memory of Doug

We have lost a friend and colleague from the RCMP to the recent disaster in Haiti.

At the time of his tragic death, Doug Coates was doing what he did so well - leading an international peacekeeping operation. He was the Acting Commissioner of Operations for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti and was one of 82 Canadian police officers serving in Haiti at the time of the earthquake. These men and women chose to leave the safety and security of Canada to serve the needs of less fortunate in this very challenged part of the world.

Our thoughts go out to Doug's family, and to the people of Haiti and to the many volunteers who, like Doug, are dedicated to making this World a better place.

During this year's build we will be erecting a house for a Cambodian family in Doug's memory.
